This recipe is a variation of our original Hawaiian-inspired plant-based favorite Hoke Poke. With a spicy kick, this creamier poke is full of probiotics which combine marvelously with Jackfruit’s high soluble fiber content, making it an excellent source of prebiotics. We frequently enjoy this as an appetizer served along with gluten-free crackers, but also sometimes serve it as an entrée along with quinoa or add it to the top of a green salad. Any way you decide to enjoy this seafood-free recipe we are sure your taste buds and gut microbiome will jump for joy. Everyone here at tfc is looking forward to hearing about your results in the comments below!

Happy crEATing,

Love Liza!

Steps

1
Done
10 minutes

Process Jackfruit

Open cans of jackfruit and drain out all liquid. Place in a bowl lined with cheesecloth and begin to twist the jackfruit tight inside cheesecloth to squeeze out as much liquid as possible (this is essential to ensure the jackfruit can absorb the sauce for optimum flavor). Finally, chop the jackfruit to half-inch sized chunks and place in medium-sized bowl. Set aside.

Add Veggies

Add sliced scallions, chopped & deseeded sweet peppers, shredded carrots and diced red onion to jackfruit.

Toast Sesame Seeds

Toast sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes or until lightly browned and 'popping', stirring occasionally. Or bake on an ungreased baking sheet at 350° for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Watch to avoid scorching. Add to jackfruit.

Mix Sauce

In small bowl mix sesame oil, tamari and coconut aminos and add to the jackfruit mixture. Mix this well then add the 'F-Bomb Sauce' and mix again until well combined.

Garnish and Serve

Place the Spicy Jackfruit Poke in a serving bowl or on a bed of lettuce on a plate/platter then garnish with avocado slices and remaining toasted sesame seeds. This can be eaten as an appetizer with your favorite crackers or as an entrée with steamed brown rice.
